About this Bonedi Bari Durga Puja: The origin of this over a century old family Durga Puja lies in place called Kummilla in present Bangladesh. In the current location the Puja of Devi Rajrajeswari is performed in Sakta Cult. Prior to that this puja is performed by Vaisnabha Cult. The Ekchala Murti is a bit different from other Bonedi Baris. The Devi Durga Idol is the one described in Dhayana i.e. of Tapta Kanchan Color with Shiv Like Jaata with Ardhachandra. Devi Lakshmi is 10 handed Goddess worshiped as Mahalakshmi and similarly Maha Saraswati is 8 Handed. The placing of the other four idols are also a bit different for other ekchala idols. Here Kartik is placed beside Lakshmi and Ganesh is placed beside Sararwati. The Puja done homely envirnment with almost all family members present. The family follows the Pratipada Kalpa so the pujo starts from day after mahalaya. Bodhaon Happens on sasthi, then other ritual follows. On asthami devi wear a Silver Munda Mala and a Lemon Mala. During Sandhi Puja the Puja is Performed on a seperate Chamunda Idol. The Bhisarjan Happens on Dashmi with Ilish Mach, Kochu Shaak, Chaltar ambol aar Panta bhat.
